300 Attend Rededication
Sunday, Sept. 9, 2001
WAYLAND, MA, Sept. 9, 2001 The weather
was perfect and so was the friendship, music,
fun and excitement as more than 300 people converged
Sunday afternoon to officially welcome the Hannah
Williams Playground back into service.

A perfect day for music and
picnicing!
Free, helium-filled balloons were floating
all over tied to little wrists so not to get
away. Cookies and pastries were plentiful as
kids had faces and arms painted. And for nearly
two hours, The
Daddios brought back some of the best rock
and folk music of all time.
The new bike rack was full! And the playground
equipment got a good workout. It was a great
afternoon for a great park and playground.
The speeches and thank yous went very long
and yours truly apologizes for that.

text... click here. And if you missed the
poem, "It couldn't be done..." that
MEL Litter read, click

The new acknowledgement board, now facing the
street, was unveiled. And many people were searching
the brick walkway for their commemorative brick.
Many thanks to the Ways, the Litters, the Orlandellas,
the Lavins, the Burkes, the Daddios... all the
bakers, the face painting volunteers, others
who helped sell T-shirts.
Whew... we did it!

Mellow tunes, fun tunes (serious
looks here, though) made for a wonderful focus
for the rededication ceremony.

Faces and hands covered with
frosting, and doing anything for a drink!

Face and arm painting was popular
with all the kids and their parents.
Arm art took many forms from
lettering to bugs.

The bike rack was full for the
first time, and the playground was as busy as
ever.

Swinging carefree and fuel for
the many little fires!

Speakers MEL Litter, Cliff Kolovson,
Ted Fiust and Sherri Way.

Drum roll please..... the covering
is about to come off...

Under the covers was a completely
redone board with old and new acknowledgements.
