The top of the "space tunnel" now has high, safe rails and a smooth surface to prevent splinters. This is just one of many safety fixes and improvements.

Special Thanks

Some special thanks to those in the finishing crew this weekend...

Jim McDonald and his crew (and his front-end loader)
Phil Bird - expert carpentry, finishing on Monday!
Bill Scannell - general daily help
Tom McGonegal - repeated long efforts on site

Patrick Grenier - days of carpentry and more
Dick Eaton - days of carpentry (sorry about that chop saw....)
Steve Robb - solving the chain bridge challenge
Jan Volk - inspired work on the suspension bridge

--- and so many more we can't begin to name and thank....

Monday, Nov. 20, 7 am -- Thank you Weather Gods.... we had clear, and not-too-cold weather all weekend and got a lot accomplished. We are down to just a few small things to do to win approval to open the playground!

We hope these small items will be taken care of this morning and we'll get the green light before Wednesday.

Yesterday we finished the suspension bridge, mostly finished the two new chain bridges (replacing tire bridges), made all surfaces flush around the entry to the big slide, and we cleaned up the parking lot and perimeter fence. The entire structure was sanded and sanded (well, mostly handrails) and we cleaned up leaves and generally policed the entire area.

Many of the "head entrapment" areas also have been filled, with only a handful left to go. Ted and a few carpenters will take care of this (we hope) on Tuesday.

So... we're close!

Thank you, thank you, thank you --- to so many people for all their help, their support -- from those who brought heavy equipment on site to those who brought baked goods and other home-made treats (that hot chocolate yesterday afternoon was tops). From those who spent days and days on site helping to those who came for an hour or two... from those who came with the whole family to those who brought only one little one, from those who brought great skills to those who brought only their strong backs, from those who gave their time to those who sent well wishes with their checks.... we thank you all.

We're going to make it!
