History
-- Hannah Williams
and Her Family
From
Jane P. Neale of Jefferson, MA, we received quite a bit of background about Hannah
Williams and her family... more than we have time to prepare for display here
(at least for now-- but it's a start).
"I
have been able to gather some family pictures that you might like... I also contacted
William Williams who lives in Rutland, the next town to Holden, and asked his
permission to share these with you," Jane writes.
Lawrence
Neale, Jane's husband, comes from an old Wayland family. His mother, M. Alice
(stetson) Neale was the town clerk in Wayland for 27 years. They lived at 75 Main
St. in Cochituate. Lawrence was active in the Cochituate hockey team of the 30s
and 40s and also played baseball and football on the Wayland High team.
Lawrence
Neale also was a great, grandchild of Hannah Williams (if I'm reading the genealogy
report correctly)! Mind you.... she had 13 kids.... lots of family branches on
the tree!
Anyway....
here's what we've got to show you!

Hannah Jane (Allen) Williams, Feb. 23, 1944 and published with a newspaper
article announcing her 100th birthday (see
photo of article).
The
news article notes that she was living in Cochituate at the time, and it mentions
how her son Arthur donated the park and playground to Cochituate in his mother's
name....
